Discipline 05

Digital Product Design & Technology Consultancy

We translate business requirements into practical, well-architected digital products.

The challenge

What this discipline addresses.

The most expensive software decisions are made before any code exists: the problem, the scope and the architecture. We help organizations make those decisions deliberately and validate them early.

  • Stakeholders hold different ideas of what is being built.
  • Staff work around the system because the interface impedes them.
  • A vendor proposal is hard to assess without technical advice.
  • The product roadmap is not tied to measurable value.
  • The organization needs direction before committing a budget.
Services

What we deliver.

  • UI/UX design
  • Digital product strategy
  • Technical architecture consultancy
  • Technology advisory
  • Digital transformation planning
  • Technical training
  • Application prototyping

Engineering approach

How we do it.

  1. Frame the decision

We establish what must be decided, by whom, and what evidence would settle it.

  2. Research the work

We observe the people who will use the system, not only those commissioning it.

  3. Prototype

A clickable prototype tests the idea with real users before development is funded.

  4. Specify

You receive architecture and requirements a team can build from, whether or not that team is ours.

Typical engagements

Where we usually start.

  • Scoping a system and producing a specification before going to tender.
  • Redesigning a data-entry interface used all day by operational staff.
  • Independent technical review of a vendor proposal.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Can we hire you for design or advice only?

Yes. A specification or prototype is a useful deliverable on its own, and you are free to take it to any delivery team.

Do you provide training?

Yes. Technical training can run alongside a project or as a separate engagement, tailored to your staff and systems.

What do you need to start?

A description of the problem and access to the people it affects. A formal requirements document is helpful but not essential.

Discuss your product design & consultancy requirement.

Describe the requirement and the constraints you are working within. We will assess it and advise candidly on whether and how we can help.
